Honor Flight celebrates WWII vets

A gray-haired, energetic woman waved a large American flag, exhorting the gathered crowd to cheer as the veterans deplane. The World War II veterans entered the terminal, hardly expecting the sight that greeted them. Rows of active duty Navy, Army and Air Force saluted them in greeting. Miniature flags waved fervently and patriotic songs trumpeted into the air.

Budget cuts transform county schools

Maura Gaudio, a senior at Langley High School, arrived at her AP Government class on the first day of school to find the room packed with students. Desks were crammed into the room, and there still wasn’t enough space: one student had to sit at the teacher’s desk. The effects of last year’s budget cuts were right in front of her eyes.
