Questionable behaviors rock Friday night soc hop

A group of students was caught dancing to their own beat and socializing without adult supervision in the gravel lot Sept. 19. At the same time, a soc hop that had been advertised as a school dance that would “save the grinding for the coffee” entertained well over 200 students inside the building.

Following the football game against Woodson, the Class of 2011 hosted the second soc hop of the school year at 9 p.m. in Gym 2. At the previous dance on Sept. 5, a number of students bypassed ... full article


 

From grant money to high-tech microscopes

Tom Goodwin, parent of Class of 2008 graduate John Goodwin, is always an advocate for the Jefferson Partnership Fund, and Aug. 29 was no exception. The current chairman of the school’s central fundraising organization was passionate in addressing the parents of incoming freshmen, imploring that they donate whatever they could so that their high-achieving students could get the best public school education in the country.

And apparently, it worked. Since school began, the Partnership Fund has received approximately $26,000 in donations from Goodwin’s appeal at Back-to-School night and the freshman ... full article
